What happens at CYIA Camp?
Camp is 8 days long and the first few days are the training days - you will be spending a lot of time learning and participating with your group (about 30 students) through activities and classes.
Each day there is free time, meal times, small group devotions, large group chapel, and a really amazing worship time. We pray a lot, play a lot, and learn a lot.
Once you've completed all the the training classes you will join your ministry team (about 4 people) and each day you will learn the part you will be teaching the children at 5-Day club. You practice and study your part individually and with your team, then we drive to your club and you teach with your team. We return back to camp, eat lunch, and have free time during the afternoons.
What is a 5-Day club?
The 5-Day clubs are a 90 minute daily club that lasts for 5 days (Monday thru Friday). At CYIA this club is taught by the CYIA trainees and real children attend these clubs - some have never heard the name Jesus before. We teach you how to conduct the clubs from start to finish with your team and we teach you how to share the Gospel with the children. The teens are the leaders at these clubs.
What is the time commitment?
There is a Pre-Camp in Olympia on May 2nd (we carpool down) - this is an all day Saturday event where we feed you well and you participate in the first few classes to learn how to teach children. If this day does not work for you, please contact Miranda for an alternate training date.
There is an optional Home Work day on June 6th in Port Orchard.
Camp begins Friday, June 19th through Saturday, June 27th
Now that you're trained - your ministry begins. We have opportunities each week to teach in the 5-Day Clubs that have been scheduled throughout our county. I ask that each CYIA-er agrees to join a team for either 2 or 3. This means that you will have the opportunity to join us in ministry 1 to 2 weeks this summer. I work with your schedule and we carpool to most clubs.
How do I sign up?
We have an application process that you can read below. CYIA is a teen leadership camp teaches you how to share the Gospel and how to teach children. At CYIA you will meet new friends and learn new things. You will be equipped, encouraged, and challenged in ways that you may have never experienced before. We have a lot of fun, but we also work really hard.
If you feel that God is calling you to do something BIG this summer - and make a real difference for His glory, please contact Miranda at the number below to schedule an interview.
